Opportunity to fundraise part-time for an international NGO tackling climate change

Background

The EIO is an independent non-profit which researches, promotes and implements investment systems designed to incentivise the world’s biggest companies to cut their greenhouse gas emissions.

This year the EIO held the world’s largest companies to account over their carbon emissions through the launch of its global set of fully transparent and publicly available Carbon Rankings. These included the ET Europe 300, ET North America 300, Asia Pacific 300, BRICS 100 and Global 800 Carbon Rankings, covering a total of 1,300 companies.

The Rankings have received international media attention and have already begun encouraging companies to make their emissions data public.

Crucially, in addition to creating ‘PR pressure’, the rankings also provide the basis for the Environmental Tracking Index Series, a market mechanism capable of incentivising the world’s largest companies to lower their emissions and improve transparency through applying a dynamic pressure to company share price.

The EIO is seeking to build a fundraising team to help it secure funding to enable it to continue to produce and develop its Carbon Rankings each year.



Fundraising Officer

Start Date: As soon as possible
Finish: Rolling basis

From the get go, you will be part of a dynamic and enterprising team, contributing to the vital fund raising aspect of the project. Until the EIO reaches financial autonomy from the sale of licenses to the ET Index Series, it is continually looking to seek funding from other sources. Therefore, securing funds is of paramount importance to the sustainability and future of the EIO as an organisation and the development of its Rankings. This role will be focused on researching and submitting of funding applications on behalf of the ET Carbon Rankings project and will require a minimum of 5 hours a week commitment.


Responsibilities:
Volunteers will have the responsibility of seeking, completing and submitting funding applications which are appropriate to support the ET Carbon Rankings. This will also include working with the rest of the EIO team to find project-specific funding as well as developing relationships with individuals and major donors to encourage sustained giving.

Required Skills:
-Excellent written communication skills;
-Excellent research skills;
-Ability to work to short deadlines;
-Able to quickly build up a thorough knowledge of the EIO’s aims, projects and ways of working;
-Previous experience fundraising for a campaigning organisation;
-Previous experience in writing funding applications;
-An appreciation of the various sources of funding;
-A willingness to take the initiative and be able to work independently, as well as part of team; and,
-A willingness to work remotely from home, particularly via emails and Skype.
