Senior Geotechnical Engineer

A leading environmental engineering consultancy operating throughout the UK and internationally has a requirement for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to be based at their Edinburgh or Glasgow offices.
Responsibilities
■Undertake investigative work relating to the resolution of a client’s environmental and geotechnical problems
■Prepare factual and interpretative reports which identify solutions and recommendations
■Supervision of environmental projects, as instructed, including any subcontractors
appointed.
■Assist in the co-ordination of existing projects and the development of new business.
■Undertake conceptual design of engineering elements of a wide range of projects in the renewable energy, contaminated land remediation and waste management sectors.
■Assist in Client Liaison on a wide portfolio of environmental engineering projects in
the renewable energy, contaminated land remediation and waste management
sectors.
Experience
■Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar), ideally with a post-graduate qualification
in geotechnical engineering.
■Chartered Engineer status is preferred, or at least working towards.
■Strong geotechnical knowledge and experience in its application on environmental
engineering projects in the site remediation and regeneration, renewable energy
(including wind farm construction) and waste management projects.
■Strong Interpersonal / team working skills, with a good working relationship with all
levels of the organisation, clients and contractors.
■Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills across all media.
■Able to demonstrate a successful track record of project delivery in accordance with
clients’ requirements, including experience of defining clients’ requirements.
■Have significant experience in design, contract and tender preparation, tender
assessment, construction supervision and administration.
■Able to demonstrate successful project management of large multi-disciplinary
project and formal training within the discipline of project management
(including value and risk management).
■Able to make decisions in a consistent and well thought out manner.
■Sound managerial, commercial and financial skills.
■Business Development skills and the ability to introduce new Clients and maximise
existing business, would be a distinct advantage.
