Role: Design Engineer
Location: Aberdeen
Rate: Negotiable
Main Purpose:
To undertake duties within a multidiscipline Engineering Design office. All work is carried out under the direct supervision of the Design Services Manager/Senior Design Engineer. Responsible for the progress of design projects, from initial kick-off to issue of deliverable.
Main Responsibilities:
-Production of engineering calculations utilising specialist design analysis software packages, to comply with various international codes and standards, relevant to both oil and other industries
-Compilation of design packages consisting of implementation procedures, calculations, planning charts, etc.
-The incumbent should actively assist with the development of design team systems and methods
-Carrying out site and offshore dimensional and system surveys and preparing detailed survey reports
-Provide guidance and technical backup to other design team members
-The incumbent must work within project financial limitation as dictated by the Technical Services Manager
-Assist in the preparation of design estimates
-Liaison with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and contract support staff as required
Qualifications and experience:
-Experience in structural design
-Effective in carrying out details structural calculations for both structural and mechanical components
-Display a high degree of computing literacy on engineering design packages
-Good interpersonal skills
-Highly organised
The following is desirable:
-BEng (Hons) or equivalent
-Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
-Familiar and confident with 3-D structural analysis using FS2000 (or similar packages), Microstation/AutoCad
-Competent in Basic 3-D Fea techniques
