Network Designer
Swansea/Birmingham
£300/day - 3 month contract
Network Designer required to support the increased pace of an on-going change programme. This is to include HLD and LLD production as well as review and consultancy activity. To work as part of an account team delivering enhanced network services to the customer client base.
Key Areas of Responsibility
o The purpose of the role is to provide network high and low level design documentation for the customer infrastructure.
o The assignee will be accountable to the Assignment Manager, Lead Network CSA, and the Hiring Manager.
o The role predominantly involves network design but can also on occasion involve troubleshooting activities.
o The Resource will report to the Lead Network Architect for workload, technical and line manager related topics.
o Project related deliverables and monitoring will be completed on a per project basis by the Project's manager.
o The Resource will be able to call upon the lead network architect for support during the project lifecycle should the need arise.
o The Resource will be expected to attend site for customer facing/project related meetings, remote working is encouraged once the resource feels he has received sufficient local knowledge through attendance at site.
o Produce, maintain and collate Low Level Solution Designs in accordance with guidance an instructions
o Utilises the prescribed methodology in order to produce documented designs based on a given set of requirements (clarifying as necessary).
Qualifications
Minimum of Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA with network design experience

Experience
The individual should have experience of enterprise network design and have first-hand knowledge in the following:
o Nortel Network Switch Platforms - 4500, 5500, 5600, 8600
o Cisco Switching and Routing (BGP, EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, HSRP,VRRP)
o IP Subnets/CIDR
o Content Switching Technologies
o Firewall Technologies - including Juniper, Checkpoint, Nokia, Cisco PIX
o WAN Technologies - ISDN, MPLS, Frame Relay, Leased Line
o Service Provider Engagement - C&W, BT

Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, IT management and sales and project management staff
Obtains approval from higher technical authority as appropriate
