Duties to include:
• The preparation of total estimates to individual enquiries
• To ensure all estimates are robust and offer value to our customers whilst generating a satisfactory return to the company
• Ensure that costs put forward by operational departments are sound and reasonable and approved for use
• Integrate with and develop best practice with other colleagues
• Assist in the development of resource plans
• Develop existing estimating and benchmarking processes, procedures and capability.
• Perform and support project and programme reviews.
Required experience:
• A demonstrable track record in the preparation of detailed estimates, preferably within the nuclear / defence sectors
• Development of financial estimates for all contracting types
• Management of subcontractors and key equipment providers
• Demonstrable experience of bidding complex projects
• Strong communication and people / team management skills
• A broad understanding of Risk Management
• MS Project or P3 / P6 Planning with the ability to interpret programmes
• Working knowledge of the NEC3 suite of contract conditions
• Ability to deal with ambiguity
• Experience in managing a fluctuating but often heavy workload
• Ability to work under tight time constraints with excellent time management and planning skills
The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate energy, purpose and commitment. They will be comfortable and capable of working under pressure and to immoveable deadlines. Influencing and gaining agreement of stakeholders will be crucial to their success. An analytical approach to work is essential.
Continued Professional Development / Training:
CPD is encouraged by the company. Professional training courses are regularly attended to keep up to date with legislation. Accreditation to professional bodies is supported and encouraged. The principle adopted is that professional development is intended to improve the effectiveness of the individual’s ability to do their job.
Required Qualifications:
• HNC / HND qualified in an Engineering or Commercial discipline. Alternatively, candidates with significant appropriate experience may be considered
• PC literate in the Microsoft Office suite
• UK Driving licence
• Flexibility to travel to other UK offices and sites on occasion is necessary.
