Senior Hydrologist
Central Belt Scotland
£28-35k plus benefits (negotiable)
A leading environmental engineering consultancy operating throughout the UK and internationally has a requirement for a Senior Hydrologist to be based at their Edinburgh or Glasgow offices. You will be responsible for the provision of hydrology support to the EIA, Contaminated Land and Environmental Engineering teams. You will also be responsible for the delivery of technical hydrology studies to encourage the growth of the hydrology business in Scotland.
Responsibilities
• Complete hydrology reports in relation to Environmental Impact Assessments and other hydrology linked services
• Private water supply assessments and providing other hydrology support where necessary
• Delivery of flood risk modelling and mapping to clients,
• Provide strategic flood risk advice to clients/local authorities,
• Design flood management measure
• Complete flood risk assessment and water quality assessments.
Experience
• Significant experience in a hydrology role, along with the ability to work independently on projects
• Extensive hydrology experience gained through a consultancy and the ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of hydrological modelling would be a distinct advantage.
• Degree in a related engineering discipline (BSc or MSc in Geography or Environmental Science, ideally with a postgraduate qualification in Hydrology)
• Chartered Engineer status is preferred, or at least working towards.
• Strong Interpersonal / team working skills, with a good working relationship with all levels of the organisation, clients and contractors.
• Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills across all media.
• Able to demonstrate a successful track record of project delivery in accordance with clients’ requirements, including experience of defining clients’ requirements.
• Able to make decisions in a consistent and well thought out manner.
• Sound managerial, commercial and financial skills.
• Business Development skills and the ability to introduce new Clients and maximise existing business, would be a distinct advantage.
