Trading Operations Specialist

Our client are a global leading integrated energy business. Strategy, Technology & Commercial Integration (ST&CI) operates the client's global trading business. Through its trading business units, ST&CI buys and sells barrels to feed the company system while acting as stewards for core supply chain and price/credit risk management capabilities. The London office concentrates on physical trading for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including US arbitrages. Trading in oil paper derivatives is also a core function. They are currently seeking a Trading Operations Specialist to join their team.
As Trading Operations Specialist you will deal with all operational processes related to purchases and sales of crude oil and LPG including:
* Working closely with traders once deals are concluded
* Liaising with counterparts in other oil companies regarding documents and requirements for cargoes
* Working with equity terminals which supply crude oil or LPG
* Ensuring all aspects of the contract are adhered to from an operational standpoint
* Handling operational issues - preventing production shut ins and refinery run outs, minimising demurrage and dead-freight
* Working with vetting to clear vessels
* Appointing inspectors for quality and quantity.
* Working through loss control claims
* Liaising with credit department if letters of credit are required
* Entering key cargo data into the trading system and liaising with finance
Depending upon experience, other responsibilities may include:
* Reviewing new term sales or purchase contracts and lifting agreements from an operational perspective
* Conducting analysis of logistics for efficiencies or commercial opportunities to maintain maximum asset utilisation
* Identifying new strategic relationships and business opportunities
* Lead project teams, or participate in projects
You'll ideally be qualified to degree or equivalent level with a thorough understanding of industry standards and their commercial impact, as well as market trends/drivers, competitor markets, terminals, logistics and refinery operations. You'll also have sufficient commodities trading knowledge to enable commercial groups in executing strategies.
