Our client is accepting online applications for the position of Regional Marine Superintendent located in London.
Reporting to the Manager, Marine Assurance London, this position is responsible for advising on marine risk of vessels and terminals, and has significant contact with Corporate and Affiliate customers, ship owners, terminals operators, other oil companies, and others on a world-wide basis.
The role:
* Provide marine expertise and counsel to internal stakeholders, such as the Regional Manager, Charters and Business Managers, as well as customers in the European commercial region
* Work with primary customers in Kazakhstan (TCO), Nigeria (CNL) and South Africa providing technical support and Marine advise to the business units for marine activities, including inspections in country of 3rd party companies and barges etc
* Promotes Operational Excellence (OE) and Tenets of Operation at the regional OE board meetings
* Supports the Marine Assurance Group and Charterers in the evaluation and monitoring of Time Charters and COA vessel suitability, performance and management
* Review vessel Sire inspections and responses, PSC reports and information exchange for industry best practices
* Work closely with Coastal Operators for COA business
* Attend officer seminars and make presentations of our Operational Excellence and Tenets of Operation
* Support vetting and clearance group with owner /operator visits to the London office
* Inspect terminals, TMSA audits, T/C inspections following the Term Charter inspection format, Term Charter Process using appropriate documentation in ProChart
* Actively participate in Marine Assurance process improvements
* Support company advocacy objectives with industry groups mainly OCIMF work groups
Your Background:
* A Master Class 1
* Experience in a senior officer rank
* Extensive experience of deep sea tanker experience, with further experience of oil, chemical or gas vessels being an advantage
* Demonstrated experience as a shore-based Superintendent would be beneficial
* A good knowledge of practical tanker operations and is able to provide clear operational guidance to commercial customers
* Experience of formal Risk Assessment and Root Cause Analysis procedures in support of safe ship and terminal operations
* Technical and practical knowledge to assess quality of ship, terminal and company operations
* Strong communication skills in order to clearly convey findings and recommendations
* Ability to work within tightly regulated processes and strong self discipline
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and with good organisational skills
* Able to maintain good working relationships with commercial customers
