Head of Research and Fundraising
This is a unique opportunity to run the Research and Development division of an international not-for-profit research organisation based in London. With research programmes based in Tanzania, Madagascar, Costa Rica, Cambodia and Fiji, Frontier is conducting vital projects around the world in environmental research, ecosystem services, sustainable livelihoods and community development. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to take over the management of the Research and Development division, focussing on fundraising through grant applications and securing sponsorship.
With experience in fundraising, grant writing and developing and managing projects and research programmes, you will have the skills required to run the division efficiently and effectively. With comprehensive knowledge of the conservation and/or development sector you will be able to identify key areas and new opportunities for expansion and will be able to use this knowledge to build up additional relationships and collaborations.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fundraising – securing funding though grant applications and the identification of new
sources of finance, including sponsorship opportunities
- Projects and programmes – management of the research and development aspects of 7
overseas conservation and development programmes and subsidiary or donor projects
including all stages from proposal and planning through to implementation, monitoring and
evaluation
- Research – overseeing the long-term strategic development of the organisation's research
programmes, ensuring outputs are published and targets met and long term plans are
developed and monitored
- Human resources – assisting with the recruitment, interviewing, training and ongoing
development of staff in the field and in the head office including drafting contracts,
monitoring outputs and conducting appraisals
- Systems and organisational management – ensuring the smooth running of the research
programmes through efficient systems and organisational management including reporting
systems and data and configuration management
- Budgeting and finances – management of budgets for donor-funded projects, including
preparing accounts for audit
- Communications and PR – ensuring the aims and achievements of the organisation are
communicated widely, including to academic, conservation, development, donor and
volunteer audiences
- Outreach – leading workshops, presentations, talks, lectures, symposiums and similar in
academic, conservation and development contexts
- Development - development of new projects, locations, collaborations and opportunities for
the growth of the organisation
- Networking and relationship management – building, developing and maintaining strong
relationships between in-country and international institutions, partners, NGOs and
government agencies
Marketing – maintaining and developing an effective marketing strategy including
publications, press releases, articles and newsletters as well as social and digital media such
as Facebook, Twitter, news and reviews.

Contract Duration: Permanent
Salary: £25,000 p.a. dependent on experience, knowledge and qualifications
