3D foster carers for Salford City Council
We urgently require 3D foster carers to provide loving and caring homes to older children who need extra support. The 3D programme is for children aged 10 -16 years old and placements usually last between 9 and 18 months, although there may be the option for a child to stay with you long term within our Focus fostering programme. We are also looking for 3D respite carers, who are able to offer occasional, planned care for short periods, such as weekends.
As a 3D foster carer, you will work closely with a professional team of social workers, psychologist, teacher and therapist, supporting a child with complex needs to live in your family. You will play an integral role in developing personal behaviour plans for the child and feedback to the team on a daily basis. You’ll enjoy problem solving, understanding behaviours and implementing strategies to improve a child’s ability to make good progress in everyday life.
You will need to have a spare room and no other children in your home. You’ll also need some experience of working with children or vulnerable adults (as a carer/parent or within employment), and we’ll provide training and support to give you the skills to help a child reach their potential. You’ll need to be flexible and enjoy working with a team, but most importantly you’ll want to provide a loving and supportive home to a young person.
You don’t need any formal qualifications and will receive training and support from the professional team. One carer will need to be at home full time and you’ll receive a financial package starting from £22,022, plus a weekly allowance for the child in your care, as well as paid holidays.
We welcome applications from people over 21, and have no upper age limit. Foster carers need to have both the experience and energy to meet the needs of a foster child.
Ideally you'll live in Salford, or be able to commute easily for regular meetings and visits.
Children really benefit from being placed with foster carers who share their language, religion and culture and we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds. You can be married, living together or single, straight or gay, as long as you have the time and love to give to a child, we’d like to hear from you.
