A leading environmental engineering consultancy operating throughout the UK and internationally has a requirement for a Senior Radiological Consultant to be based at their South Wales office. The ideal candidate will have a sound track record of working on nuclear or radioactive waste management projects. The Radiological Service Team specialises in the characterisation of radioactively contaminated land and waste, waste management, environmental sampling and monitoring programmes and providing radiation protection advice to a range of clients.


Responsibilities

• Providing advice on radioactive waste characterisation and management
• Undertaking BAT/BPEO/BPM and optioneering studies associated with radioactive waste management
• Undertaking and/or managing radioactive waste characterisation programmes
• Undertaking and/or managing radioactivity surveys
• Supporting Radiation Protection Advisers
• Supporting environmental auditing and assessments of nuclear and industrial sites
• Preparing Environmental Permits and supporting information associated with radioactive waste
• Bid/proposal writing

Experience

• Educated to degree level and preferably MSc or PhD level in either: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Waste management or other Environmental related subject
• Experienced in radiation protection
• Experienced in radioactive waste characterisation and management
• Experienced in working on nuclear sites in an environmental consultant role or similar
• Knowledgeable and experienced in Environmental Permitting Regulations relating to radioactive substances
• Experienced in Project management
• Experienced in Bid and proposal writing
• Excellent level of literacy and communication skills and the ability to prepare clear professional (technical) reports.
• Interested in becoming an accredited Radiation Protection Adviser
• Full driving licence required as you will be visiting sites throughout the UK.

Although the position is mainly UK based, there may the opportunity of working on international projects for the right candidate.
