An innovative global engineering company based in Poole, Dorset is seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their project engineering team that specialises in the design and fabrication of modular and bespoke heavy lifting equipment products. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in product development whilst showing an ability to work on his or her own initiative.
Candidate Qualifications and Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum B.Eng or B.Sc Honours Degree in Mechanical and/or Design Engineering together with 2 years work experience in an engineering field applicable to the company’s profile. Applicants with an HNC/HND with a minimum of 5 years work experience within an appropriate engineering field will also be considered.
Further preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate experience in some or all of the following.
Developing structural stress analysis calculation spreadsheets
Using 3D structural stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) software
Design and draughting using AutoCAD and Inventor software
Producing detailed drawings, fabrication drawings and general arrangement (GA) drawings
Selecting appropriate materials and section sizes for specific products
Producing technical files / portfolios for company products
Candidate Personal Requirements
The candidate should be an enthusiastic individual with excellent drive and communication skills and be committed to progress within the company. To succeed in this role the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are dynamic and highly self-motivated with meticulous attention to detail and a general all round team player.
Salary and Remuneration Package
For the ideal candidate, a salary up to £30,000 is offered dependant on qualifications, experience and suitability to the role
