Our Client requires a Systems Engineer within the Rail industry based in Hamilton or Crewe.
OVERALL PURPOSE:
Responsible for the delivery of electronic systems development and implementation for the portfolio of works as directed.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES OR MAIN TASKS:
1. Undertake the ‘systems’ elements of remit/work scope reviews attending client review meetings as allocated.
2. Take overall technical responsibility for the systems elements of contracted work scopes as allocated.
3. Undertake feasibility studies as directed.
4. Undertake product/system development studies as directed.
5. Complete conceptual and detailed design in accordance with Babcock client standards, for allocated remits/work scopes.
6. Contribute to design reviews, in particular in association with systems interface issues as directed.
7. Provide estimates of cost for the systems elements of tenders or awarded remits as directed.
8. Monitor project delivery against agreed timescales and cost allowances, controlling and managing delivery as appropriate for allocated remits/work scopes.
9. Act as lead representative for the systems element of client commissions as directed.
10. Undertake systems testing and commissioning duties as directed.
11. To perform other appropriate activities as directed by the Systems Manager.
12. Provide 3rd line technical support to maintained operational systems as directed.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Ideal Qualifications & Experience
• Honours Electrical or Electronic Engineering Degree (preferred).
• Incorporated Engineer (preferred).
• Project Engineer Licence (IRSE) (preferred).
• Signalling systems knowledge.
• System design and development skills
